Izzy Kaczor
Izzy is a Columbia University Field Hockey Commit on the Pre-Med track. She has been playing field hockey since she was 6, and decided to study medicine after the death of her grandmother. Her greatest inspiration is Cassie Sumfest, who played field hockey at UNC Chapel Hill: “Her drive inspired me to keep trying even when I thought I couldn’t do it.” When Izzy was still in the recruiting process, unsure if it was even a possibility, she was extremely behind on schoolwork because her club team was 3 hours away in Pennsylvania. However, she was determined to be successful in both her field hockey and academic endeavors and would do her homework and studying in the car. When she had the opportunity to play on the Columbia University Field Hockey team, she knew her hard work was worth it. I asked Izzy for one piece of advice she would give her younger self, and she said: “don’t sell yourself short - everything will work out in the end and your hard work will pay off.”
